Russell Martin - General Manager/Senior Construction ManagerRussell Martin  (he/him) General Manager / Senior Construction Manager

Russell graduated from St. Martin’s School of Art with a B.A. in Fine Art (Painting) in 1990.
His final show, uncannily presaging his later employment, consisted of sculptures made from modified and painted pieces of found furniture.
After graduation, he reprised an agency job from the previous summer, and returned to the construction industry, fitting air-conditioning ducting. In 1994 a chance encounter with an old art school friend led to work as a drum technician (long story), and for a few years he lived mostly out of buses and hotel rooms on tours across the UK, Europe and the U.S.
In 1999, between bands and tours, a friend rang and advised him to call a Construction Manager he knew, who needed an extra stagehand for a day. Russell spent the next six weeks working on that film, and the next ten years with that Construction Manager, learning carpentry and much else along the way.
In 2010 he was making bespoke and fitted furniture and needed workshop space when, by way of a mutual friend, he met Philip, who drew him back into the film industry with promises of wealth and fame. The rest is history. (He is still waiting for the wealth but no longer cares about the fame.)

After leaving school Tia wanted to give something back, at 18 she went to Africa and taught English with School Club Zambia.
Having been sewn to it, from the age of 10, she plays piano to grade 8.
Tia joined PLUMRED in the summer of 2019 to ‘do the administration’.
Within weeks Philip was completely reliant upon her. She has progressed rapidly and through her efforts PLUMRED’s potential has been expanded and growth has been exponential. Her previous experience as Floor Manager for RIDA Studios had set a foundation for the smooth running of the business and its operations. In 2020, she oversaw the commissioning of our FOREST Workshop, on the edge of Epping Forest.
As Coordinator she now weaves together the many and varied projects that we undertake, all the while managing the constantly changing tapestry that is PLUMRED.
Tia represents the fresh, new wave and is propelling the company into a dynamic and exciting future.

Philip Shaw - Development Manager/Construction ManagerPhilip Shaw (he/him) Development Manager / Construction Manager

His training in Technical Production at the National Institute of Dramatic Art in Australia developed Philip’s already diverse range of skills. Upon graduation, his first job was as Production Manager for Spare Parts Puppet Theatre in Western Australia and included International Tours and hosting of the 1988 International Festival of Puppetry, in Perth.
He toured extensively with many and varied Theatre Companies and in 1990 he was back in Sydney as Assistant Producer on the very popular TV game show Double Dare.
February 1992 saw Philip arrive in the UK, he returned to theatre but quickly transitioned into set construction for Advertising, TV and Film - within two years, freelancing in the Construction and Art Departments was his only focus. By 1998 he was Construction Managing his own jobs. He dabbled with the roles of Production Designer and First Assistant Director but found his real strength as a Construction Manager, facilitating the visions of others.
In 2005 he founded PLUMRED.
His ability to put together job specific teams that are ‘nice to work with’ has been commented on widely. Philip has always encouraged a family / team environment. He has nurtured many budding Art Directors and Craftspeople... encouraging and training the next ‘up and comers’ remains his passion...

Craig Gray HB (1)new

Craig Gray - Construction ManagerCraig Gray (he/him) Construction Manager

Having graduated from the Royal College of Art in 1994, with an MA in furniture design, Craig ‘worked with a friend’ building conference and exhibition sets. He was not finding much joy in this, when a young Joel Collins asked him to build the sets for a Pop Promo for the band Sleeper. He was hooked and set building became his passion.
Soon Craig was an established Construction Manager and in 2007 he formed his own company, Craig Gray Ltd, building sets for television and low budget films. He was Construction Manager on ‘Cinderella’ (2000), Ali G Indahouse (2002), Blackball (2003), Fat Slags (2004) Cemetery Junction (2010) and for TV; Blackpool (2004), Twenty Thousand Streets Under the Sky (2005), Jane Eyre (2006), Jekyll (2007), Oliver Twist (2007), Mister Eleven (2009).
In 2000 he was Construction Foreperson for the UK part of Sexy Beast.
Being a ‘one man band’ takes a toll and he reverted to working for others as a freelancer -
PLUMRED amongst the mix.
In 2019 he joined PLUMRED proper and as part of the family, was Construction Manager for Seasons 7 and 8 of Endeavour. The second half of 2021 saw him as Construction Manager for Inside Man (2022)
He now lives a more bucolic life having relocated to the Oxfordshire wilds… where he oversees PLUMRED’s third workshop, grows vegetables… and is venturing back to his furniture making roots, blending what he has learned along the way... all the while being a table leg for PLUMRED...

Joanna Maeva - Workshop ManagerJoanna Maeva (she/her) Head of New Business

After leaving school, Jo trained as a Sound Engineer but found it a bit noisome.
In 2003 she started her career in Carpentry and Joinery completing NVQ’s 1&2.
While training, she ‘helped out a friend’ on a fashion shoot. The Visual Director saw her potential and immediately hired her to build the sets for their upcoming catalogue!
The Set Building rollercoaster has seen Jo undulate from David Hare at the BBC to ‘The Bill’ at Talkback Thames to Danny Boyle’s film ‘Trance’ and in 2007 to ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’.
After working on a string of other blockbuster films, she joined PLUMRED in 2016 as a freelancer.
In early 2020 she started training as an Upholsterer and has achieved her Level 2 Certification.
Now days she shares her time between her Missus, their 2 daughters, Upholstery and PLUMRED… She is ready to make and clothe a comfy chair for everyone…

Francis Fagan - Workshop ManagerFrancis Fagan (he/him) Workshop Manager

Frank attended the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham, studying for a BA in Film Production. He initially planned to take a directorial path, when the time came to specialise in his second year, Frank found his groove in Production Design which
melded well with his Arts background.
During this time, Frank won the award for Best Production Designer at Screentest UK National Student Film Festival 2013 for his graduation film ‘Pantheon’ (the film also won Best Film and Best Score).
In 2012, after graduating with First Class Honours,
Frank pursued both Set Design and Set Construction simultaneously.
He moved to London and found a second home at the Praxis Arts Cooperative. He received Art Direction mentorship with Alistair Saunders. As time progressed, he took on his own Art Direction jobs for commercials,
music promos and more…
Frank’s first freelance employment with Philip and PLUMRED saw him assisting on an installation at the MAISON&OBJET exhibition in Paris, an exciting endeavour for a freshly graduated trainee!
Since joining the PLUMRED family in 2014, Frank has gone from strength to strength, recently taking on the shared role of Workshop Manager; a position that has seamlessly blended with the start his own family.
